FAQs
What types of massage do you offer?
At PB Therapeutic Massage, we specialize in results-driven bodywork designed to relieve pain, correct muscular imbalances, and restore mobility. Our services include therapeutic massage, sports massage, and deep tissue massage. Every session is customized to your body—we don’t follow a cookie-cutter routine. Instead, we assess what’s tight, restricted, or overworked and apply the right techniques to release, lengthen, and relax your muscles.
Does massage really help with pain relief?
Yes. Research shows that massage therapy can reduce pain, increase circulation, and improve mobility. At PB Therapeutic Massage, we go beyond temporary relief by addressing the root cause of tension. Whether it’s your hip flexors, traps, or lower back, we use targeted techniques to help retrain your muscles so you move and feel better long-term.
What about low back pain or sciatic issues?
Low back pain is one of the most common reasons clients seek us out. We assess the hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, and spinal muscles to release tension and restore proper movement. For sciatica, we target the piriformis, glutes, and surrounding muscles that can compress the sciatic nerve, often bringing relief without invasive treatment.
How many sessions will it take to feel better?
Every body is different. Some people notice relief after just one session, while others with chronic pain or old injuries may need a series of treatments. We’ll give you honest recommendations and may suggest a treatment plan if your issue requires consistent work.
Do you give stretches or things to do at home between sessions?
Yes. Part of our process is education. We’ll suggest stretches, mobility drills, or recovery tools you can use to extend the benefits of your massage and prevent pain from returning.
What should I wear during a session?
Most sessions are performed with clients undressed to their comfort level and properly draped with sheets. If you prefer to wear athletic clothing for certain types of bodywork (like stretching or sports massage), we can accommodate that.
How much do you charge?
60 minutes — $100
90 minutes — $145
120 minutes — $190
We also offer memberships, which make regular care more affordable:
60 minutes — $85
90 minutes — $120
120 minutes — $160
Our memberships are simple and flexible—no long-term commitment required. They’re designed for clients who want consistent progress and maintenance without worrying about paying full price every visit.
What’s the difference between a therapeutic massage and a relaxation massage?
Relaxation massage focuses on light pressure and stress relief. Therapeutic massage goes deeper—we target specific muscles, fascia, and movement patterns that are causing discomfort or limiting your range of motion. If you’re dealing with chronic pain, stiffness, or injury recovery, therapeutic massage is designed to get you results, not just help you relax.
Can you work on my tight hip flexors or quads?
Absolutely. Many of our clients come in with hip flexor tightness from sitting, running, or cycling. We release these muscles, along with the quads, glutes, and hamstrings, to restore balance in your hips and reduce strain on your low back.
Can massage help release tight hamstrings or calves?
Yes. Tight hamstrings and calves affect posture, athletic performance, and even daily movement. Through deep tissue release, stretching, and myofascial work, we lengthen and relax these muscles so you can move more freely and reduce the risk of injury.
Will one massage fix my pain?
One massage can absolutely make a difference, but long-term relief often requires multiple sessions plus self-care. Our goal is to help you maintain results, not just chase temporary relief. We’ll give you stretches or recovery tips so you can build on the progress between visits.
Is massage safe if I have an injury or medical condition?
In most cases, yes. We adapt every session to your needs and avoid anything unsafe. If you have a major medical condition or recent surgery, we may ask for clearance from your doctor.
Is everything private and professional?
Yes. Professionalism, respect, and client safety are at the core of our work. Every session is private and confidential.
Do you take insurance, HSA, or FSA?
Yes. We accept both HSA and FSA cards and provide itemized receipts for clients who plan to submit for insurance reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer your spot to another client in need. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged.
How do I know if I need deep tissue work or something gentler?
We don’t believe in “one size fits all.” During your first session, we’ll assess your muscles, posture, and movement. For some people, deep tissue is appropriate. For others, lighter but precise techniques release tension more effectively. The right pressure depends on what your body needs—not how much pressure you think you can tolerate.
Do you help with neck and shoulder tension from working at a desk?
Yes. Desk posture often creates tight traps, rounded shoulders, and stiff necks. We work directly on the upper traps, levator scapulae, pecs, and rhomboids to open the chest, lengthen the neck, and relieve the “tech neck” aches that come from hours at a computer.
Do you work with specific muscles like the psoas, traps, or rotator cuff?
Yes. Our specialty is muscle-specific work. If you can name it, we can work with it—psoas, trapezius, rotator cuff, IT band, plantar fascia, and more. We know how to safely access deep and hard-to-reach muscles to help release restriction and restore balance.
How long do the results last?
It depends on your lifestyle, posture, and activity level. Athletes or people with repetitive desk habits may need more frequent sessions to maintain results. Many of our clients choose weekly or bi-weekly massage for consistent progress.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No. You can book a massage directly with us—no referral required. However, some insurance or HSA/FSA plans may ask for a doctor’s note for reimbursement.
How long are your sessions?
We offer 60, 90, and 120-minute sessions. Most clients book 90 minutes for the best balance of focused bodywork and full-body relief, while 60 minutes is great for targeted work on one or two problem areas. For deep resets or chronic pain, 120 minutes gives us the time to address everything in detail.
