Question 1

What type of massage is best for back pain?

Accepted Answer

For chronic or acute back pain, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and Thai massage are most effective. Our Advanced Pain Relief sessions combine these techniques to address the root cause of tension rather than just the surface symptoms. Many clients notice significant relief after a single session. Toni is our top recommendation for back pain and injury-related work.

Question 2

How much does a massage cost at PB Therapeutic Massage?

Accepted Answer

Standard session rates are $105 for 60 minutes, $155 for 90 minutes, and $205 for 120 minutes. New clients receive introductory pricing of $79, $109, and $139 for their first session. Membership pricing brings those rates down to $90, $130, and $175 respectively — plus 15% off all additional sessions booked that month. We accept HSA and FSA cards.

Question 3

Where is PB Therapeutic Massage located?

Accepted Answer

We are located at 3517 Del Rey St #110 in Pacific Beach, San Diego, CA 92109. Free street parking and garage parking are both available nearby. The studio is ADA accessible with a handicap parking spot and a sidewalk ramp. We are open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm.

Question 4

Do you accept HSA or FSA for massage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PB Therapeutic Massage accepts HSA and FSA cards for all therapeutic massage sessions.

Question 5

How many therapists do you have and can I choose who I see?

Accepted Answer

We have five CAMTC-certified therapists: Darin, Toni, Estrella, Callen, and Alyssa. You always choose your therapist — sessions are never automatically assigned. Each therapist has distinct strengths: Toni excels with athletes and injury-specific work, Estrella specializes in somatic and trauma-informed massage, Callen blends Eastern and Western modalities with exceptional listening, and Alyssa brings a deeply soothing, communicative presence. All therapists perform cupping therapy.

Question 6

Are your massage therapists certified?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All five therapists at PB Therapeutic Massage are CAMTC certified — the California Massage Therapy Council certification required to practice therapeutic massage professionally in California.

Question 7

Do you offer sports massage for athletes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Athletic Recovery & Performance Bodywork is one of our core session types. We blend sports massage, Thai massage, deep tissue, and cupping for faster recovery, reduced soreness, and improved mobility. Toni is our specialist for athlete-specific and injury-focused work and is particularly skilled with climbers, runners, and active individuals. All of our therapists are trained and experienced with athletic clients.

Question 8

Do you offer Thai massage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Thai massage techniques are integrated into our Advanced Pain Relief and Athletic Recovery sessions. Thai massage is particularly effective for improving range of motion, releasing deep fascial restrictions, and supporting recovery from overuse injuries. Our therapists are trained in combining Thai work with Western deep tissue and myofascial techniques for superior results.

Question 9

Do you offer cupping therapy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All five therapists at PB Therapeutic Massage perform cupping therapy. Cupping can be added to any session and is especially effective for back pain, tight shoulders, athletic recovery, and breaking up fascial adhesions. It is available as an add-on to your massage session.

Question 10

Do you offer intraoral massage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Toni and Estrella are trained in intraoral massage, which targets the muscles of the jaw, mouth, and surrounding structures. This is particularly effective for TMJ dysfunction, jaw pain, headaches, and tension from teeth grinding or clenching.

Question 11

Do you offer prenatal massage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer prenatal massage for expectant mothers at any stage of pregnancy. We use a specialized pregnancy pillow for full table comfort. Estrella is our primary recommendation for prenatal work. Prenatal massage is effective for back pain, hip tension, swelling, stress, and sleep difficulty during pregnancy.

Question 12

Do you offer massage for post-surgical or post-injury recovery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work with clients recovering from surgery and injury. Toni is our highest recommendation for post-surgical and post-injury cases. Sessions are adapted to your stage of recovery and specific needs. Please inform us of your medical history and any surgical or injury details when booking so we can match you with the right therapist and approach.

Question 13

Is PB Therapeutic Massage good for first-time massage clients?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We are an excellent first stop for anyone new to professional massage. Our therapists take time to understand exactly what you need, educate you on what to expect, and meet you where you are — in terms of pressure, communication, and comfort. We pride ourselves on creating a smooth, welcoming experience for first-time clients with no pressure and no upsells.

Question 14

What should I expect during my first session at PB Therapeutic Massage?

Accepted Answer

Your first session begins with an intake conversation where your therapist learns what brought you in, what you want from the session, and what will be most helpful for your body. The session is then fully customized to your needs. Afterward, your therapist will discuss how the session went, make recommendations for frequency and home care, and help you book a follow-up if appropriate. The entire experience — from booking to checkout — is designed to be seamless, friendly, and pressure-free.

Question 15

What is myofascial release and who is it for?

Accepted Answer

Myofascial release is a hands-on technique targeting the connective tissue surrounding muscles. It releases restrictions and adhesions that cause chronic pain, limited range of motion, and postural imbalance. It is especially effective for people with desk-related tension, repetitive strain injuries, scar tissue, and deep-seated pain that regular massage does not fully address. It is a core technique in our Advanced Pain Relief sessions.

Question 16

How is PB Therapeutic Massage different from a spa?

Accepted Answer

PB Therapeutic Massage is a results-driven therapeutic practice, not a spa. Every session is tailored to your body, pain patterns, and goals. Our therapists are clinically trained in deep tissue, myofascial release, sports massage, Thai massage, cupping, and more. We focus on outcomes — pain relief, mobility, recovery — while delivering a high-end, welcoming environment. No upsells, no scripts, no one-size-fits-all sessions.

Question 17

Do you have a membership program?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our membership program is month-to-month with no long-term commitment. Members pay $90 for a 60-minute session, $130 for 90 minutes, or $175 for 120 minutes — one session per month minimum. All additional sessions booked that month are 15% off. Members also receive discounted gift card pricing, roughly 15-20% off, so they can share the experience with friends, family, or coworkers.

Question 18

Do you sell gift cards?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Gift cards are available for purchase. Members receive discounted pricing on gift cards — approximately 15 to 20% off — making it easy to gift therapeutic massage to people you care about.

Question 19

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations or no-shows within 24 hours of the appointment are charged 100% of the session cost. This policy allows us to respect our therapists' time and keep appointments available for other clients.

Question 20

Is there parking near PB Therapeutic Massage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free street parking and a free parking garage are both available close to the studio. Parking is easy and convenient. The studio also has a dedicated handicap parking spot and is ADA accessible.

Question 21

Do you offer couples massage?

Accepted Answer

We do not offer side-by-side couples massage at this time. However, two people can book back-to-back sessions with their preferred therapists on the same day. We are happy to help coordinate this when you call or book online.

Question 22

What makes PB Therapeutic Massage the right choice?
