Sports Massage in Pacific Beach
Sports massage is therapeutic bodywork designed around how your body moves, performs, and recovers. Whether you're training consistently, dealing with a nagging injury, or just trying to stay ahead of soreness, a well-executed sports massage does what stretching and foam rolling can't — it gets into the tissue, addresses the restriction at its source, and gets you back to doing what you love faster.

Most sports massage is applied as a pre- or post-event add-on — rushed, generic, and forgettable. At PBTM, athletic recovery sessions are built around your specific sport, training load, and injury history. Toni, our lead athletic recovery specialist, is a competitive rock climber and brings firsthand understanding of overuse patterns, sport-specific tension, and what the body actually needs to perform at a high level. Every session blends sports massage, deep tissue, Thai, and cupping in whatever combination your body calls for that day.

Sports massage bodywork blending deep tissue, Thai compression, myofascial release, and assisted stretching targeted to your sport and body

You train regularly — running, surfing, climbing, cycling, CrossFit, lifting, yoga, team sports — and want bodywork that actually supports your performance and recovery, not just a relaxation session after a hard week. Not for: Clients looking for a purely relaxing, light-pressure experience. For that, our Nervous System Reset is the right fit.

Hydrate well, arrive 5 minutes early. If possible, avoid intense training the same day as your session so your tissue is receptive rather than acutely inflamed. After: Light movement is encouraged — walking, easy stretching. Avoid heavy training for 12-24 hours post-session to allow the tissue to integrate the work. Drink plenty of water.

Sports massage is safe for most active individuals. Please inform your therapist of any acute injuries, recent surgeries, stress fractures, open wounds, or active inflammation. We will always adapt the session to work safely within your body's current state. If you are mid-injury and unsure whether massage is appropriate, reach out before booking and we'll advise.
